Cathay Pacific "I Can Fly" Programme 2016

5B Luo Lixin, Karta joined "I Can Fly" Programme 2016 organized by Cathay Pacific from March until this summer. “I Can Fly” is a unique educational concept that aims to nurture an enthusiasm for aviation and a spirit of social service among local young people. Apart from helping those in need, participants can get a taste of the world of aviation through meeting different aviation professionals or visiting aviation-related facilities.

«施政[email protected]» 政務司司長林鄭月娥與青年談退休保障

On 9th May 2016, 22 S4 students participated in «施政[email protected]» organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Students were invited to express their views on Universal Retirement Protection Scheme and the consultation paper Retirement Protection Forging Ahead, and discuss it with the Chief Secretary for Administration Mrs. Carrie Lam.
It was a great honour for students to have a direct dialogue with and express their opinion to Mrs. Lam. They found the forum very fruitful.

Etapa, Joint School Talent Quest

Etapa, a Joint School Talent Quest, co-organised by the Student Union of Ying Wa College, King’s College and Sacred Heart Canossian College, was successfully held on 7th May at Shek Wai Kok Community Hall. Two soloists and three teams from our school joined the competition and the teams I.M. and WMD won the Championship (Group) and the Netizens Award.

44th Open Dance Contest

On 5th May 2016, 32 Folk Dance members participated in the 44th Open Dance Contest organized by Kwun Tong District Culture and Recreation Association. Both senior and junior groups received Gold Awards in the Western Dance (Open) Section. The name of the dance in senior group was Bulgarian Dance. This dance is from the Shoppe region of Bulgaria, the western region of the country.

Visit of Gansu Principals and Education Bureau Directors

It was a great honour to have 36 Gansu principals and education directors together with 7 facilitators from The University of Hong Kong visiting our school on 25th April 2016. The visit was organized by the Centre for Education Leadership (CEL), HKU under the sponsorship of Tin Ka Ping Foundation. The focus of the visit was on the area of all-round development of our students.

AIDS Mask Design Contest 2016

20 BPS students participated in the AIDS Mask Design Contest 2016 with the theme “Say no to discrimination” organized by The Society for AIDS Care; 15 of them won prizes. Ho Po Yu (5H) and Khong Wan Ying (4H) finished in the selected submission (Top 100) and 13 students finished in the shortlisted submission (Top 500).

本校與九龍華仁書院合組的混聲合唱小組獲國家教育部及香港教育局邀請參加在青島舉辦的「全國第五屆中小學生藝術展演活動」。是次活動由國家教育部與青島市政府共同主辦,是國家教育部根據《學校藝術教育工作規程》舉辦的中小學生國家級藝術教育最高規格的比賽。

Art Club - Milk box purse-making Workshop

Art Club organized a milk box purse making workshop on 12 April 2016. We used cleaned milk boxes and unwanted fabric to make purses. We hope to promote the concept of upcycling and enhance student's awareness on environmental protection. Students learned ideas about how to upcycle and design products; they were satisfied with their designs and enjoyed this workshop a lot.

Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra Fundraising Concert 2016

Under the support of the Simon Suen Foundation, our School Orchestra is honoured to play Jupiter (from the orchestral suite The Planets) side by sidewith the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in their Fundraising Concert during Easter holidays. It was a precious and meaningful experience for our students to play with professional musicians and have a glimpse of their work in professionalism and musicianship.

Exchange programme with Diocesan Girls’ School

Six Secondary Four girls: Lee Wai Yan (4B), Lee Sze Ngo (4B), Chan Sze Wai (4P), Holy Ng (4P), Wong Nga Lam (4H) and Pang Ming Tung (4H) participated in the Exchange Programme to the Diocesan Girls’ School (DGS). They attended classes and participated in extra-curricular activities in DGS from 14th to 16th March, 2016.

Lok Sin Tong Charity Candy Campaign 2016

On 12th March and 20th March, over 40 BPS students joined the Lok Sin Tong Charity Candy Campaign 2016 at Happy Valley to sell candies. The girls actively asked passers-by to buy candies for charity. Many candies were sold. Although the girls had to stand on the streets for the whole day, they thought it was a worthwhile; they learnt a lot from this activity and all of them enjoyed the meaningful weekend!

Interact Club - Ching Lan Home Easter party

On 19th March 2016, 13 BPS girls went to Ching Lan Home to have Easter party with the residents. At the party, they sang Easter songs, played games and exercised. They had a lot of fun during the Easter-egg-hunting game. They also brought some mashed potatoes and drinks to share with the residents. This was the third time for us to visit Ching Lan Home this year, and the girls are so glad that some residents have built a closer relationship with them. We are looking forward to the next visit to Ching Lan Home!

South China Morning Post Student of the Year Awards 2015

The results of the renowned Student of the Year Awards organized by the South China Morning Post were released and the prize-giving ceremony was held on 12-3-2016. Striving to do better and giving back to society are two important aspects of these prestigious Awards. Applications have to go through stringent selection, including face-to-face interviews with an expert panel of judges that comprises outstanding academic or category professionals.

Flower Show 2016

The Hong Kong Flower Show 2015 organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department was held between 11 and 20 March at Victoria Park. This year the theme flower was Antirrhinum majus and the theme was “Blossoms in Vivid Art 2016”. Over 200 organisations from 20 countries showcased exotic flowers, landscape and floral art displays. Besides, 10 BPS S1 to S5 students took part in the Flower Show Drawing Competition 2016 on 11 March 2016 from 12 to 3 p.m.

The Humanity Parade cum Charity Carnival

15 Discipline Smarteens volunteered in the Hong Kong Red Cross-The Humanity Parade cum Charity Carnival at the Central Piers. They helped to cheer for the participants and decorate the waterfront using balloons. Also, they helped to set up and look after booth game stalls. Everyone had a great time there helping and they enjoyed playing with other participants. It was a meaningful event.

Girl Guides Social Services Programme

On 4 March 2014, BPS Guide Guides organised some fun activities for children at the Caritas Kennedy Town Nursery School. Everyone enjoyed the games with cheers and laughter. The activity was held successfully and both BPS students and the children had precious moments of social cohesion.

Visits to School of Chinese Medicine (CUHK) & School of Nursing (HKU)

Thanks to our Principal, Mrs Ng, and her friend Prof Albert Leung Wing Nang, the Director of the School of Chinese Medicine of CUHK, 50 of our S5 students had the golden opportunity to visit the School organized by the Career Team during the Life-wide Learning Periods. The visit introduced various ways to nurture our well-being through Chinese medicine, such as massaging acupuncture points and making tangerine tea.

惜食藍圖 Eat Well Workshop

On the LWL period of 4th March, around 20 Form 4 students went to Green Hub in Tai Po to participate in the Eat Well Workshop. During the workshop, students learnt how to reduce carbon footprints from changing our eating habits. Students also had a chance to cook some vegetarian dishes and make tea using herbs they picked from the farm in Green Hub. Through this workshop, students had a fun experience and learnt that by a slight change of our usual eating habits, our carbon footprints can be greatly reduced.

Creative Lunar New Year Fair @ Wan Chai

To apply economic concepts in daily life, a group of Form Four Economics students participated in the ‘Creative Lunar New Year Fair @ Wan Chai’ co-organised by Wan Chai District Office and the Methodist Centre at Southorn Playground Wan Chai. It could not have been a great success without the full support of our Principal, Vice-principals, teachers, parents and alumnae. Throughout these three days, we gained invaluable experiences and unforgettable memories.

2016 Study Tour to Japan : Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Nagasaki

The Study Tour to Japan 2016, organized by the Study Tour and Exchange Programmes Team, comprised of a group of 21 students from S3 and S4 and three teachers. During the 5 days, students visited the heavy industries such as Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Corporation Yawata Works(新日鐵住金株式會社八幡製鐵所), the Kitakyushu Eco Town(北九州環保城), the Hatchobaru Geothermal Power Station(九重八丁原發所)and the Nagasaki Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Company(長崎三菱造船廠).

Chinese New Year Shopping Trip with residents of Ching Lan Home

15 BPS girls and Ms Kan went shopping for the coming Chinese New Year with 8 residents of Ching Lan Home last Saturday. Each of us paired up with one resident. We went to the Paradise Mall in Heng Fa Chuen. Not only did we go to a supermarket to do New Year's shopping, but we also went to a nearby KFC to have mashed potatoes with the residents.

Chinese Painting Workshop

The Art Club held the Elementary Chinese Painting Workshop after school on 26 Jan 2016.  All participants were taught the techniques to paint goldfishes by the demonstration from the Chairlady, Christy Khong, and they enjoyed the workshop very much.

Organic Farming Workshop (1st Term)

The first term organic farming workshop has successfully been held from October to December 2015! Students gained experience in organic farming - producing organic fertilizer and insects repellent. They could observe the plants from seed germination to harvest and learn how to distinguish different types of plants.

Interact Club - Blood Test Service Day

On 20th December 2015, 39 BPS girls joined an elderly service programme organized by the Peninsular South of Rotary Club in Mong Kok Kai Fong Association Chan Hing Social Service Centre. Our girls performed on the stage while the elderlies were waiting for the explanation of their blood test report from doctors. All participants has learnt more about the needs of elderly and they were glad to participate in such a meaningful service during Christmas holiday!

On 18 and 19 December 2015, nineteen students from class 6K took part in the Career Sparkle Programme which was jointly organized by our  school and St. James’ Settlement. After attempting different activities and challenging tasks, students are more empowered with strengthened self-confidence and positive direction of their life-goals. The programme helps them realise their own strengths and weaknesses.

Music Competitions (November and December)

Our music teams obtained very satisfactory results in various music competitions. Our String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Chinese Orchestra participated in the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows. We are delighted to announce that all teams achieved Gold Awards. Our Choir competed in the Hong Kong International a cappella Contest. They obtained Gold Diploma in Heat and Silver Diploma in Final. In the 7th Winter Band Festival, our Symphonic Band won the Gold Award. Thank you for the great effort of our conductors and tutors!

The school held its annual Prize-giving Day on December 11. It was a great honour to have the distinguished Professor Tony F Chan, the president of HKUST, as our guest of honour. CUHK Alumni Homecoming 2015

The Alumni Homecoming Day, one of CUHK’s highlight events of the year for its alumni, was held on 28th November on campus, with the participation of over 5,000 alumni and their family members. In celebration of its 10 consecutive years, this year’s Homecoming Day was themed “10 years.Reunion”. Our String Orchestra was also invited to perform in this big day and was a great success performance.

Eco Expo Asia 2015

A group of S1-S5 students went to Asia-Expo Hong Kong to attend the Eco Expo and a meet-and-greet with the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam Sing. In the Expo, students learnt about some ongoing projects that promote environmental protection in Hong Kong and saw some environmentally friendly products from all over the world.

Interact Club - Rotary Luncheon

On 22nd October, two interators joined the Rotary luncheon meeting at Peninsula Hotel. They presented the yearly plan of Interact Club to leaders from Rotary Club of Peninsula South. Belilios Public School 125th Anniversary Concert

As the theme of the 125th Anniversary Concert ‘Prominence - From Excellence to Eminence’ presented, the concert on 29th September 2015 was a showcase of the long tradition of excellent art education which Belilios Public School has been prominent for. The tradition was upheld by different generations of multi-talented Belilians, orchestrating a symphony of performances ranging from music to dance and speech for such a celebratory occasion.

2015 World Bond Robot Contest (GreenMech)  2015世界機關王大賽 @ 台灣

The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups led our BPS team of 4 Belilians, Cecily Liu Yu Wei, Melissa Fung Chi Man, Florence Chung Sin Ming and Chow Tsz Yan, as Hong Kong Representative in Senior Secondary Division to compete with representatives from other countries in the 2015 World Bond Robot Contest (GreenMech) in Taipei in the past Summer holiday.
